Connacht Junior Rugby Division J1B served up a treat for the spectators at Garraun Park, Tuam, County Galway, Ireland as Tuam RFC took on Corinthians RFC on a beautiful day for rugby. Corinthians started very strongly dominating territory and possession and their strong start soon led to a try which was converted. Tuam gradually got a foothold in the game and as they grew in confidence the scores started to flow. A converted try was flooded by a penalty and then another converted try to leave the hosts leading 17-7 at the break. Corinthians came back strongly in the second half. An unconverted try and a penalty cut Tuam's lead to two points before Tuam landed a drop goal to extend the lead to 20-15. With time ticking away, Corinthians grabbed another try in the corner. The conversion failed. Back came Tuam and they were awarded a penalty in front of the posts about forty metres from goal. It was, literally, the last kick of the game and was successful to give Tuam victory by 23-20. This was a pulsating game played at a ferocious pace by two highly competitive teams. The game flowed from end to end and the only let up in the pace was for the several injuries. Both teams deserve a huge amount of credit for this display.
