Going into this game at Corinthians RFC, Galway, Connacht knew they could win their first Interprovincial title in almost twenty years if they ran up a big score against Ulster and Leinster defeated Munster without securing a bonus point. Connacht were on the front foot from the start but the scores didn't come until late in the first half when Connacht ran in three tries. The half time score was 22-0. More work to do. Although dominated in the first half, Ulster showed their mettle in the second as they had more possession and territory. However, Connacht scored three more tries to Ulster's two to end the game with a 39-12 victory. Sadly, it was not enough as Leinster won their game with Munster to take the title on points difference.
